AISM Parents,

Happy Holidays and Welcome Back! It was great to see so many energized students this morning on campus, fully rested and “ready to learn”. We look forward to partnering with you for the second part of the “Year of the Mountain Zebra” in our ongoing academic journey.

This afternoon, for the first time since April of 1990, the American International School of Monrovia served a hot lunch. I contacted the former Director at the time, Mr. Rob Ambrogi, to ask for some tips, and he replied: “sorry Jeff, we used to do it, but all the floppy disks either disappeared or got mold on them”.

That said, Dr. Ambrogi gave me several “specs” from different schools throughout the world, to help us re-launch our program, for the benefit of our school community.

Mr. Marwan Eid, former ACS student and one of the last students to enjoy the former lunch program on this historic school site, gets his first lunch at our school in almost 30 YEARS!!!

Based on the recent survey of our parent community regarding food service at the American International School of Monrovia, it is clear that this is a service that our school community sees as a benefit.

The school, therefore, did not rest over the summer, and turned this storage room, into a state of the art "Cantina."

The Café Royal, based in the lobby of the Royal Grand Hotel, is now providing a Food Service Program (FSP) to our students.

This will be followed, next week, by the launch a Snack Service Program (SSP), which will be available during recess, lunch, and after school.

The food program will reflect and respect the needs of the student body, while celebrating its diversity, with a focus on fresh whole foods, sourced locally.

The FSP* will be a monthly-based LUNCH PROGRAM, and cash-based SNACK PROGRAM, available to students, starting from EYP to Grade 10. The meals will be prepared at the Café Royal site, with an emphasis on fresh, healthy food.

The January menu and snack options, from the Café Royal, will be sent home with your students today, and the program will officially launch next week, after the registration period is complete.

Bon Appetit!

  • Additional Message about IT Upgrades, which also took place during the Winter Break, is forthcoming.
  • The AISM After School Activity Program will recommence on the week of January 15th, with new programming options for your students
  • Term II After School Activities List will be sent home tomorrow, with registration on Wednesday at 17:00
  • Please review the Cafe Royal Food Service Program information that is being sent home (hard copy for the refrigerator) today and be sure to register with Cafe Royal or the school office by Friday, January 12th at noon.

Here is to 2018 ... at the American International School of Monrovia
