RE: Halloween/Fall Festival, AISM Health Insurance, Liberian Thanksgiving.

This week, The American International School of Monrovia is pleased to welcome the four day visit of Mr. Ricardo Urbina to our campus.  Mr. Urbina works with many of the present insurance companies that the school contracts with, each year, to safeguard our teachers, students, and school facility.  Mr. Urbina is directly in charge of our teacher health insurance, and he was able to assist us with the policy development and implementation of our student emergency medical insurance.

The student medical insurance is a “first of its kind” for an American International School in West Africa. This morning, Mr. Urbina, and I, met with ASPEN medical to ensure the alignment of our various medical insurances with ASPEN.  As a community, here at the American International School of Monrovia, we understand the various challenges that come with living and working in Liberia.  We also understand that student health and safety is not a “sometimes” thing, but an “all the time thing”, and that we must always be vigilant, and prepared in order to preserve the health and safety of your (and our) students.

Mr. Urbina will also be on campus tomorrow during our Halloween and Fall Festival.  Although he is not scheduled to have any official meetings with our parent community, he did let me know that he will be available from 1:00 – 3:00 to have any side conversations with parents who may have questions about our student health insurance.  As a reminder, your students are covered for medical emergencies that occur during operational school hours, and on the school campus, or during school-supported field trips.

Mr. Urbina will be dressed as a Triathlete (in business attire) tomorrow, after just having completed the Iron Triathlon in Hawaii last month.

As a quick reminder, this Thursday, we will be observing the official Liberian Thanksgiving Holiday, and the school will be on recess.

I am look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow, and once again, it will be our insurance provider who will be dressed as the Ironman triathlete, not myself.

Have a great afternoon; we are expecting to have an exciting Halloween/Fall Festival Celebration tomorrow!
