“The purpose of quality student assessment is to help students learn! And teacher’s teach!”

Yesterday, it was great to see so many well-rested student faces, returning to AISM, after our Labor Day weekend. On Monday, our teachers and staff enjoyed a professional development day to prepare and analyze the incoming Measure of Academic Progress results that many of our students completed last week.

This year, we have seen over 50% of our families new to our community. For those parents joining our International School this year, we have some information on how our trimester Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) will help us ensure that your children are achieving measurable student growth at AISM:

During our professional development day on Monday, we were able to see and identify educational trends that our team will address to ensure that a majority of our students are able to achieve significant educational growth during the first trimester of this school year.

Today, we hope to give our final make-ups, and close the test window for Trimester I.  The test window must be closed to give us the AISM District Line, so we can identify in brief where our students are.
The district line is in orange.

Friday, we will be sending you the results to review with your students, and next week, we will have our student-led goal-setting meeting for the year, to assist us in working together for your students’ success.

The NWEA MAP Test helps us:

  • Inform instruction using valid, reliable, and actionable data
  • Measure students’ growth over time
  • Use exclusive norm references (American Overseas Schools, U.S. Schools, African International School Association) to identify and assist in making data-driven instruction to promote individual student growth.

We look forward to finalizing our MAP results tomorrow, and sharing them with you on Friday afternoon.

Have a great afternoon.
