December 13th, 2019
Great First Half of Our School Year! Once again, on behalf of the faculty and staff, I would like to pass along our gratitude for the continual transformation of our school community that has occurred here at the American International School of Monrovia during our “Year of the Honey Bee.”
Over the last several years, we all took responsibility together, as a community, to build an even better American International School of Monrovia. That work was recognized in 2016 when we became the first internationally accredited school in Monrovia in over 27 years!
Having the actual certificate for our community is great, however, it’s what’s behind the accreditation that is the most important. Many key processes and procedures, academic standards, and other metrics had to be fully implemented to gauge the strength of our academic program before the accreditation was granted. The work on these standards continues to be maintained as part of our goal of ongoing school improvement. To this end, we are pleased to announce that our MSA Mid-Term Report was completed and submitted to the Middle States, on November 26th, ahead of the December 1st deadline. We look forward to getting external feedback from our accreditation organization about our continuing long-term planning for continual student and school improvement.
During the Year of the Honey Bee, we have learned that our goal of both meeting and exceeding International school norms is an ongoing process and one that takes a lot of ongoing energy and effort from our intertwined community. However, with the support of all members of our educational ecosystem, we have been able to continue to work together to keep the American International School of Monrovia on its journey of going “from Good to Great.”
Nevertheless, even a Honey Bee colony needs to rest, and that rest for our community starts tonight!
From all of us here at the American International School of Monrovia, Season Greetings and Happy Holidays. We look forward to seeing you, well rested, and ready to learn tenaciously on January 6th, at 8:15 am.
