On Saturday evening, our “Year of The Wildebeest” yearbooks arrived on Air Cote d’Ivoire. As our school continues to grow!…so does our yearbook!! Last year, The Year of the Mountain Zebra, our Yearbook was 84 pages. This year, it is 102 pages! As you may or may not know, there is presently no local capacity to produce our yearbooks (to AISM standards) here in Monrovia, so we outsource to Burkina Faso.
Now, with a little over 100 students and 102 pages in the yearbook, we are actually having trouble with yearbook “binding” capacity. I discovered last week that the process for binding this amount of pages is different than it would be if we had the same number of pages as last year.
To help us with our new weight/volume/shipping ratios, as each yearbook weighs over a pound, Air Cote d’Ivoire agreed to cost share the transportation with us. This allowed us all, as a community, to benefit; it permitted us to keep the price at $25 per unit. If you purchase two yearbooks… the cost is $50 dollars, however, you must ask for the two-for-$50 special by name: “Two yearbooks please!”
There are 100 Yearbooks, which will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, with some 15 pre-deposits paid. We will continue to sell our yearbooks either until our stock runs out, or at the conclusion of our “Gnu School Year”, on Wednesday afternoon, at 12:30. On the final day of school, we will have our traditional 9:00am student breakfast (paid for, but no longer prepared, by our teachers), which will be followed by yearbook signing and small student performances.
Have a great afternoon, and thank you for your support both in building our overall school program, and in turning the volume/ number of pages and the overall weight of our yearbook.
