“Are we preparing our students for our future, or theirs?”

After completing the Association of International Schools in Africa workshop/retreat in Dakar, this is still my favorite quote from the conference.

I am pleased to announce that I was able to accomplish the goals that needed to be done on behalf of the school, and that I had the opportunity to do some professional development as well. That said, it is good to be back, and “just in time”, as the PTA is preparing for another award-winning Halloween/Fall Festival Celebration.

On behalf of the PTA, I just want to send a quick reminder that next week we will be celebrating our traditional 11th anniversary Halloween/Fall Festival, on Wednesday, October 31st, from 2:00 – 3:30.
Students will be dismissed after the event (there will be no ASAP’s next Wednesday), as we will then celebrate the official observed holiday of Liberian Thanksgiving.

We are all eager for next week’s PTA sponsored Halloween/Fall Festival. The PTA has been working very, very hard behind the scenes to organize this event for our students, and to enhance their educational experience here at the American International School of Monrovia.

I am looking forward to seeing many of you next Wednesday afternoon, as Nurse G and I will be wearing the same costume… that of being a first time Dad!

Congratulations to Nurse G and his wife on welcoming their first child, Joshua. In Hebrew, Joshua means generous. We are pleased to announce that both Mom and Son are doing well. Nurse G, on the other hand, is drinking a lot of coffee and adjusting his sleep cycle.

After caring for our students for the last three years, Nurse G is well prepared for his new role as Father.

Have a great afternoon; details on next Wednesday’s event are below.

Next Wednesday, we celebrate Halloween and Fall festival!
We will have a normal school day from 8:20 am to 1:45 pm (Please see the order of activities below).

Students are asked to come to school wearing their regular school clothes. Please send your child’s costume in their backpack.

Please note:

  • Students who come wearing costumes will be subjected to changing into pre-selected clothes at school.
